As demonstrated in previous communication, PalletBiz, a cross-regional industrial packaging company is highly committed to sustainable development, and always in pursuit to learn more on how to be more engaged and contributing.
Consequently, we recently delegated two colleagues to attend the Sustainability Transformation & ESG Reporting Conference in Düsseldorf, Germany. The conference focused on sustainability and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) reporting, and had the purpose to help companies leverage sustainability by showing how to gain a competitive edge and meet the increasing demands for enhanced corporate reporting. This is a primary focus area at PalletBiz as well, and our delegates were keen to find out more.
Mr. Gents and Ms. Zombori at the Conference in Düsseldorf
The two attendees from PalletBiz, Mr. Jens J. Gents (Group CEO/CFO) and Ms. Lilla Zombori (Head of Sustainability & Franchising), participated in several sessions, including keynote presentations and interactive workshops, to gain insights into the latest trends and best practices in sustainability reporting and transformation. During the conference, Ms. Zombori and Mr. Gents learned about the importance of integrating sustainability into the core of a company’s operations and the benefits it can bring, such as improved brand reputation, increased stakeholder engagement, and reduced risks. They also explored ways to enhance sustainability reporting and how to effectively communicate sustainability performance to stakeholders.
“We are thrilled to have attended this important conference, as well as learned from industry leaders and experts about the latest trends and best practices in sustainability reporting and transformation,”
said Ms. Zombori.
“PalletBiz is not yet required to report in a sustainability or ESG context due to our size, but it is only a matter of a few years until we reach the reporting treshold. We want to use this time to develop our internal processes and we surely need practice, but by starting the preparations well ahead, we expect that we will have obtained some routine when the disclosure obligations become applicable for us too”
The event featured a diverse range of speakers from various industries and organizations, including major corporations, non-profits, and government agencies.
“I believe we particularly benefited from the networking and interactive sessions,” Ms. Zombori continued. “We were about 30 invitees, and I was glad to meet peers in a smaller group, because this setup provided the attendees with opportunities to connect with other experts and engage in open discussions about their sustainability solutions in a more “intimate”, closer environment.”
As a follow-up on the event, with reinforced eagerness and fresh ideas, PalletBiz sets out to keep actively exploring and participating in sustainability initiatives to improve our operations, as well as educate clients and partners on the importance of sustainability.
“Disclosures and external reporting are important of course, but we cannot lose focus of why we are doing the reporting in the first place,” noted Ms. Zombori. “Reporting should only be an accessory to conceptualize and if needed, quantify our sustainability performance, but neither we, nor any other company should get lost in the administration and “forget” to dedicate resources to the real challenge: interpreting what’s in the reports, actually taking action and implementing sustainability accordingly!”
This conference has overall provided us with valuable insights and inspiration to take our efforts to the next level – so stay tuned for more!
